For ten weeks each spring, on coastal farmland in Carlsbad, California, 50-acres of Giant Tecolote Ranunculus flowers bloom and transform the landscape into a solid expanse of vibrant banded color. The Flower Fields cover a rolling hillside overlooking the Pacific Coast, and is located halfway between Orange County and San Diego.
Directions: Take Interstate 5 and exit on Palomar Airport Road in Carlsbad (look for the Windmill). Go east approximately one block to the first intersection, which is Paseo Del Norte, and turn left. Make the next right into our parking lot.

Communication today takes many forms, and with the advent of texting, IM-ing and Twittering, using correct grammar has fallen by the wayside. In this class for kids, "Grammar Today," offered through MiraCosta College's Community Service Program, kids will bridge the gap between what grammar they use, and what teachers, parents and future employers expect. Students will learn basic grammar, receive in-class and home-study materials, and will be given ample opportunity for practice and discussion.

Explore the beauty and mystery of life along the San Diego coast during engaging tidepooling excursions this season with Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UC San Diego. March is an excellent time to explore local tide pools because lower tides reveal wider beaches and pools teeming with native marine life, such as hermit crabs, sea hares and sea anemones.

Week-Long Event Stops in Three Cities and is Free to the Public!
The triathlon of a new generation, Ultimate Boarder, is a one-week competition to find the athlete who can conquer the art of surfing, skateboarding and snowboarding. Opening the field to both amateur and professional athletes, Ultimate Boarder gives unknown riders a chance to shine alongside the pros and compete for the Ultimate Boarder champion title, cash and prizes. In addition to watching world-class athletes push their limits in the competitions, spectators will have an opportunity to enjoy a variety of free, family-friendly festivities during each day of competition, which will include demos, autograph sessions, vendors and more. Pennywise and TSOL will be playing a special concert at the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino on Saturday, March 20 ton conclude the event.

Composting Makes a Happy Garden and a Happy Earth
Learn how to create rich garden soil, save water, and reduce trash at the landfill by recycling your kitchen scraps and garden debris at this FREE Composting Workshop.
The workshop is open to the public and taught by trained Master Composters from the Solana Center for Environmental Innovation.
Workshop will cover how and what to compost using both a vermicomposting (worm) bin and a backyard composting bin.

Second Saturday: What Women Need to Know About Divorce is offered the second Saturday of each month. The FREE one-day only AllyKatzz Tween Town Hall Meeting will welcome 150 tween girls, ages 8-14, from across California and the US to UCLA's Hall of Fame. Scheduled to begin at 11:15am and end at 7pm, the day will encompass a keynote address that emphasizes the importance of tweens speaking up, taking action, and making a difference in their world, a hands-on "meet & greet" with "world changers"- spotlighting ten of the US's most inspiring tween/teen girls and boys who are committed to changing the world by having formed their own non-profits, a chance to get active with some of UCLA's most awe inducing female athletes, an opportunity to spread goodwill through DenimMessagingTM- (they'll bring in jeans to donate to the homeless and after turning them inside out the tweens will decorate the legs with words of hope and inspiring phrases), and a chance to "Speak Up & Share" with the "Listening Panel"- a group of accomplished adults from politics, entertainment, fashion, sports, etc. that want to know what tweens want. We’re looking for a few good dads-to-be! With a baby on the way, your life is about to change profoundly. Our basic training class allows expectant dads the opportunity to hear firsthand accounts from experienced dads who have been through it all. Learn about what to expect in the last trimester of pregnancy, at the birth, during the first few weeks at home and more. Our expert dads, accompanied by their infants, will provide practical tips on diapering, feeding and soothing a newborn. Basic Training for Dads-To-Be provides an experience you can’t get from reading a book or attending a childbirth class. The cost is $35. Join us as for an evening of dance as the California Ballet Company presents new works by choreographers from around the greater San Diego area. We'll be presenting pieces in different dance styles, from ballet to Hip-Hop. There will be some live accompaniment. If you are gearing up to be a driver, you can take your classroom driver education and behind-the-wheel driving training through MiraCosta College's Community Services Program. Sign up for both programs at the same time and save $28 - the fee is just $345. Individually, driver education is $88 and behind-the-wheel is $285.
MiraCosta's classroom driver education uses certificated instructors who interact with students and use guest speakers and contemporary audio/visual aids. Four-session Saturday classes are scheduled to begin on March 20, April 24, and May 22, 8:00am - 4:00 pm in Room 3601 at Mira Costa College, 1 Barnard Dr., Oceanside. Classes are also scheduled at MiraCosta College's San Elijo Campus, 3333 Manchester Ave., Cardiff. These sessions will also be held Saturdays, and will begin March 20, And May 22, 8:00am - 4:00pm in Room 401.
Drivers Education is also offered in a Tuesday/Thursday format at El Camino High School, in Oceanside; and Mondays/Wednesdays at La Costa Canyon High School in Carlsbad. MiraCosta College also offers convenient after-school, evening and weekend times for behind-the wheel training. These classes meet at Carlsbad High School, El Camino High School, Rancho Buena Vista High School, and at MiraCosta College's San Elijo and Oceanside campuses. The Easter Bunny is coming to Irvine Park Railroad! On Saturday, March 20th through Saturday, April 3rd, Irvine Park Railroad will hold its annual Easter Eggstravaganza. Children and adults can ride the train through beautiful Irvine Regional Park. And, children ages 2 through 12 can participate in an Easter egg hunt. Each egg will be filled with candy or a prize.
Easter egg hunts begin daily at 10:00 AM and tickets may be purchased to participate in an egg hunt at a specific time. Please bring an Easter basket for each child that will be participating in the Easter egg hunt. Irvine Park Railroad will also offer Easter baskets for sale. Tickets must be purchased on the day of the event in order to receive a wristband for the Easter egg hunt. During the Easter Eggstravaganza, children can meet the Easter Bunny and have their picture taken with him at a cost of $10.00 per photo. Pictures will be taken by Irvine Park Railroad staff and available for pickup shortly after the picture is taken.
There will be other activities to enjoy during the Easter Eggstravaganza including hay rides, a moon bounce, Easter cookie decorating, carnival games, picture stands and a lot more. Sacred Rocks Reserve and RV Park, located in the mountains just 60 miles east of San Diego, is offering a Geo-Caching Easter Egg Treasure Hunt for families of all ages on Saturday, March 27, 2010 from 10 am to 4 pm. At 9 am, a refresher GPS Navigation course will also be offered. The "Easter Egg" Treasure Hunt on the 163 acre property will give participants a chance to enjoy the early spring bloom with their families while seeking six geo-caches using a GPS receiver. Prizes will be given. A hot dog roast and campfire will be included at the conclusion of the event at approximately 5 pm. Cost is $8 per person and includes use of the park's facilities for the day.
The Escondido Humane Society's Paws in the Park dog walk is sure to be a howling good time for your entire family, dogs included! The fun, family-friendly dog walk, which will raise money and awareness for homeless and abandoned animals, is from 8 a.m. to noon March 28 at Kit Carson Park, 3333 Bear Valley Parkway in Escondido. Explore the beauty and mystery of life along the San Diego coast during engaging tidepooling excursions this season with Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UC San Diego. March is an excellent time to explore local tide pools because lower tides reveal wider beaches and pools teeming with native marine life, such as hermit crabs, sea hares and sea anemones.

Spring is an eggs-tra special time of year when many ocean animals are hatched or born. Visit Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UC San Diego, for a week of special activities that highlight the wonders of reproduction in the sea. Spring EGGS-travaganza offers hands-on family fun with marine animals and their eggs, from 11 a.m. to 3p.m., March 29-April 4.
Come face-to-face with egg-laying marine animals, including squids, fishes and sharks. Create a shark egg craft, listen to story times and participate in a daily activity throughout the aquarium.
