Enjoy a rockin' sunset this summer at the fifth-annual Green Flash Concert Series at Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UC San Diego. These unique monthly concerts co-hosted by 102.1 KPRI are held from 6-9pm for music lovers ages 21 and older. Proceeds support exhibits and educational programming at Birch Aquarium at Scripps.

The concert series, which kicks off May 19, combines live music with panoramic ocean views on the aquarium's stunning outdoor tide-pool plaza. Savory happy-hour appetizers, craft beers and wines provided by Rock Bottom Restaurant & Brewery are available for purchase. Keep an eye out for the real "green flash," a rare optical phenomenon caused by refraction of light as the sun sets on the horizon.

For it's fifth season, Birch Aquarium at Scripps is introducing two VIP packages for the ultimate concert experience. Concertgoers can purchase a guaranteed stage-side seat within our Golden Circle for $50 per person or rock out for $250 per person on our exclusive Diamond Deck overlooking the stage and La Jolla coast. City of Carlsbad Parks & Recreation presents the Leo Carrillo Film Festival on five consecutive Friday evenings, August 27 through September 27 at Leo Carrillo Ranch Historic Park, 6200 Flying Leo Carrillo Lane in Carlsbad.  Admission is free.  Movies start promptly at sunset.  Grounds open at 5pm for picnics and tours.  Complimentary tour of the hacienda is offered one hour before sunset.
Guests should bring low-back chairs, blankets and a flashlight.  Warm clothes and appropriate shoes are recommended for uneven terrain through the park.  An episode of "The Cisco Kid" precedes the film screenings.  Films are not rate.  Parental discretion is advised.  Closed captioning is not available unless otherwise indicated.
